Here we are in front of the doors of our room at La Vigne du Pont, in Vieux Chateau, Burgundy. |
Our room was decorated with a Medieval theme. . . |
but the bathroom had all the modern amenities - heated towel rack, jetted shower - the works! | Our sitting room came complete with a local liqueur. |
The area is full beautiful villages and ruins from the 12th Century. |
In the morning we had a typical breakfast of local breads, pastries, croissants, home made jams and coffee . . . |
at night our table d'hôtes started with kir and gougère (a Gruyère pastry) followed by parslied ham all Burgundy specialties. |
Philippe, our chef, prepared beef with green beans and potatoes for the main dish. |
The cheese course included goat cheese with raisins and a flavorful Epoisses cheese served with Philippe's birthday wine, a rich Aloxe-Corton. |

Right out of the Da Vinci Code, Paul is here in Vézelay, the burial place of Mary Magdalene. |
In Beaune, he found time to give a golf lesson. |
After stopping at La Cave de Pommard, a local cellar, to learn about the Côte dÓr wines; we saw the Chardonnay grapes being harvested south of Beaune. | ||
