European Christmas Markets
2009

In Naples, Italy Christmas stalls were filled with crĂȘches
and figures to fill them - from angels and shepherds,
to the butcher and baker.
  In Aix-en-Provence, France -
linens and local crafts were popular.

But the festival atmosphere took over in Freiburg, Germany. Hot mulled wine, brats, crepes and pretzels competed with beautiful lights, garland, ornaments and the glad ringing of church bells.

Our apartment owners in Katzenthal had a huge computerized marionette set that told the Christmas story along with music. Each piece was nearly a foot tall.   Chris Kringle greeted us at the Mullhouse Market.

But the biggest WOW factor was in the half-timbered city of Colmar,
where nearly every building was beautifully decorated and there were no less than 5 Christmas Markets to visit.

The Children's Market had a mailbox for letter to Santa and a Sno-Cart track with real ice and snow.
