Les Lavandes Bed & Breakfast If you are looking for a great, relaxing getaway spot, close to St. Louis. We really have to recommend our new find - Les Lavandes B & B in Rhineland/Starkenburg, Missouri. Myrta Weber (from Switzerland) and her husband, Richard, provide a lovely European experience right here in Missouri. The high tea was great. Myrta made the fresh pastries, breads and chocolates herself. Especially wonderful was the lavender infused honey she created. We chose the French room suite; complete with his and her robes and indoor and outdoor slippers, homemade soaps that Myrta makes with the lavender she grows in her garden, and an outdoor hot tub. Very romantic! For breakfast, Myrta made a bowl of Birchermusli, a typical Swiss breakfast food. It looked questionable, but tasted great. Here is her recipe: 1 scant cup Old fashioned Quaker Oats, uncooked, covered with a small amount of milk 1- 6 oz. container of Yoplait yogurt (blueberry or mixed berry flavored) 1 apple, cored and diced 1/2 banana, some grapes, a pear, blueberries, strawberries, cherries (chopped coursely) Any kind of fresh berry makes it better - raspberry, blackberry, etc. some English walnuts or slivered almonds (optional) Mix all and let set one hour before serving. This was followed by a huge plate of pancakes, brats, and bacon! Check out their website at www.leslavandes.com to see pictures of the place, located about 10 minutes outside of Hermann, Missouri. |
