Fort Lauderdale to Lisbon |
We spent a couple of days with Tiffany in Florida before the cruise. The seafood at JB's in Deerfield Beach www.jbsonthebeach.com was fabulous. | The Princess "Crown Princess" was a great ship. We had purchased an inside cabin, but got bumped up to a balcony! |
Paul & Vicki both competed in the "Bar Wars - Battle of the Sexes" martini drink making competition, which was later featured on the ship's TV channel. (The girls won!) | We met great people at dinner - David & Jill, from Chicago, and Bert & Melissa, from Ft. Lauderdale.
Bert & Melissa invited us to participate in a private tour they had purchased for 6 people on the ship's bridge. |
We felt so fortunate to get a view that few others do. |
Punta Delgada, Azores |
The achitecture in the port of Punta Delgada, Azores showed its Portuguese influence. |
We had a beautiful day to enjoy the town.
Lisbon, Portugal |
As our ship cruised up the Tagus River toward Lisbon, we passed two of the city's most famous landmarks - the Belem Tower and the Monument of the Discoveries. |
Beautiful blue tile scenes and lovely plazas were everywhere in the oldest area of the city.
From the Castle of St. George we could see the red tile roofs of the city below. |
Lisbon is known for its delicious pasteis de Belem pastries. |
The Jeronimos Monastery had great examples of the intricately carved Manueline style architecture. The tomb of Vasco da Gama was near the entrance. |
